5 lessons from our annual meeting

Last year I wrote a post on building a better print program for your annual meeting, which Sue Pelletier picked up for her Association Meetings magazine.

Yep. Had to change most of that stuff.

So here's what I learned from our annual meeting in January:
1) Summary of the schedule on the back cover? I like it, but it wouldn't fit. So I used more art. Better luck next year.
2) You can never have enough signs. ("Too much is always better than not enough." -- J.R. "Bob" Dobbs)
3) Similarly, you can never have enough rehearsal time. Next year I'm going to set up a three-hour block with the A/V crew and get all our speakers some practice mic time.
4) You can't get the handouts and presentations from the meeting posted on your website fast enough, even if you do it on site.
5) I'm clever, but not that clever. This year, someone finally noticed that whenever we hold our meeting in Florida, the cover of the program is inevitably Florida Gator orange and blue. Of course it was a Kentucky alum who figured it out...
